The likely answer is yes, though we know that can be hard to imagine! When a clinician reaches out to you this week, they will discuss the likelihood of success with teletherapy for your child. ABC has never taken a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and we won’t do that now. Your child’s individual situation will be considered.
Most insurances have confirmed coverage for teletherapy. Coverage, and your co-pay, will remain the same as with traditional therapy. We will provide more individual information when we contact you this week, including how to pay your co-pay.
A device with a camera and mic and internet access. Most PCs, laptops, tablets, even phones will work. A calm, quiet space is helpful if its available. Simple, step-by-step instructions for accessing the teletherapy platform will be provided to you.
There is a chance that you will receive therapy from a different clinician. It is likely that your time slot will change. We will do everything we can to make this adjustment easy for you and your child, but our focus will be on providing services to families as efficiently as possible. When we return to regular operations, our priority will be returning to your regular clinician and time.
No! Teletherapy will be interactive and will incorporate fun, visual therapy materials to engage, motivate and reward your child.
Possibly. The degree to which we will need your assistance and participation will depend on your child’s needs. We’ll likely need you present to help direct attention and assist your child. Don’t worry, we know you’ll have distractions and probably other children to tend to.
We’re confident teletherapy can be successful for nearly all our clients. We hope you’ll give it a try. For those whom teletherapy is not deemed appropriate, we will have a limited amount of in-person therapy appointments available and will continue to provide them so long as we feel is safe for our clinicians.
